WinGslib Help Page: "Data" Programs

The programs in this category are aimed at general data manimulation and calculation including.

The Change Coordinates System (rotcoord) program performs a 2-D translation and rotation of coordinates (or the reversal of a previous 2-D translation and rotation). A 3-D rotation can be accomplished by two successive steps. The main purpose of a global translation and rotation is to make the grid system more efficient by aligning the coordinate system parallel and perpendicular to an elongated region of interest.

Cell Declustering (declus) is used to assign declustering weights to scattered data on the basis of the number of data falling within a declustering cell. The anisotropic cells may be 3-D. The optimal cell size can be determined automatically if requested.

Normal Score Transform (nscore) geostatistical simulation often requires data to follow a normal or Gaussian distribution. Although the simulation programs transform the data prior to simulation the data must be transformed with this program prior to variogram calculation.

The Normal Score Back-Transformation (backtr) program is rarely needed since the Gaussian simulation programs, like sgsim, automatically back transform the simulated values. At times, however, it is useful to simulate in "normal-space" and keep the results so that they can be checked. Then, this program could be used for back transformation.

General Transformation (trans) program takes data following any arbitrary distribution and transfom them to any other distribution. This can be used to correct the results of simulation or for sensitivity studies.

Markov-Bayes Calibration (bicalib) is needed before indicator simulation with the Markov-Bayes option (or any other soft-indicator kriging option) the soft-data distributions must be derived from calibration data; this program determines those distributions and the required "B" parameters for Markov-Bayes simulation.

The Histogram Smoothing (histsmth) simulated annealing histogram smoothing (histsmth) program and Scattergram Smoothing (scatsmth) programs of gslib are not commonly needed or used.

Most input and output programs are in the standard GSLIB (or simplified GeoEAS format). The histsmth program creates a postscript output for quick checking, but all other programs only read and write standard GSLIB data files.
